Working From Home - Is It For You?

A lot of people dream about working from home. I did for many years. Just think, you roll out of bed when you feel like it, walk down the hall in your pajamas, sit at your desk for as little or as long as you like and earn lots of money.

If only it were that easy. Working from home is not always suited for everyone. You need to be a very organized person with good discipline skills. You must be self motivated and enjoy working alone. Being free from distractions at home is also very necessary to your progress and success. Setting short term and long term goals is a good way to keep on track and to keep moving forward with your home business.

You need to set aside your own space for working. Preferably a separate room where you can work behind closed doors if needed. Also, let your family know you are "working" and not to disturb you unless absolutely necessary. Working from home can be very rewarding but if you miss the camaraderie of an office, it may not be for you. Only you can make this decision.

It's also important to give yourself quite a bit of time to get yourself up and running before you expect to start earning money. Most people start their home business while they have another job until they feel they are successful enough to quit their "day" job. Most importantly, you must love what you are doing or your enthusiasm of working from home may soon run out and you will probably give it up.

So think about it long and hard and make sure this is not only something you are excited about but also that you have the right skills to accomplish your goals.

Wishing you much success in whatever you choose.

What Does Exercise Have To Do With Your Home Business?

After several months of really focusing on getting my home business up and running, something wasn't feeling right. There is a lot to learn and not enough hours in the day to spend learning and applying. Between my regular job and setting up my home business I was spending most of the day working at a computer. One day I realized I was letting my exercise slack off. Exercise has always been an extremely important part of my life. I have always enjoyed it and no matter how busy I was, usually managed to fit it into my schedule. That's what was wrong! I wasn't getting enough exercise.

It is very important that you take time to do the things you like. For me, exercise has always been a great stress reliever and actually makes me more focused on other tasks besides making me feel better. So now I schedule it in my calendar like everything else. It is so necessary for me personally. Even on days where I have to shorten my workout I feel so much better once I am finished.

It feels good to take a break and I always feel renewed after I exercise. It's also a great way to brainstorm about things. Sometimes I come back with great ideas or solutions to things I was working on or having problems with. Exercise is not only good for your heart but great for your brain.

So be sure to take time out of your busy day to be active and see how much better you work and feel. Even if it's just a short walk around the block, the fresh air and movement will make you feel energized.

Home Business Tax Information

When I first started my home business, I thought eventually I would check into setting up my own company. I figured I didn't need to worry about it until thousands of dollars started rolling into my bank account.

A few weeks ago I had a tax consultation that was provided to me as one of my bonuses with my work at home program. Needless to say, I was wrong about thinking I could wait. I have since set up my own LLC (Limited Liability Company). Of course, you should consult an expert to find out what type of entity is best for you.

There are so many advantages of separating your personal activities from your business activities. Even though your income may be very small in the beginning, you are allowed to deduct all your start up costs and ongoing costs from your business against other income you may still be receiving. This will lower your tax liability tremendously. This was also a good move for me as it confirmed that I was serious about my home business and was in it for the long haul. It actually gave me more confidence in myself about running my home business.

Again, whatever you decide to do, make sure you get advice from a professional. There is a lot of paperwork involved but in the long run, it is definitely worth it.

Continue to dream those dreams.

Affiliate Programs For Your Home Business

When starting your new home business, it can be overwhelming at times. There is so much information to learn. When I started, I knew absolutely nothing about running a home business or internet marketing. Most people want instant success. Well, I'm not promising you overnight success, but you can speed things up if you start with an affiliate program.

There are so many benefits to becoming an affiliate. Basically, everything is up and running. You don't have to know how to build a website or worry about whether a product or service is successful. Once you sign up, your home business is ready to go. You can usually get started for a minimal cost also to determine if this is something you really want to do.

Depending on the program you choose, they usually have great support. As an example, the affiliate program I am with has tremendous support. You have unlimited access to coaching and training. After you have learned the fundamentals of advertising, they also teach you how to build your own website and so much more. However, this can be done at your own pace since you already have a website up and running.

It gives you the opportunity to learn and practice everything on the affiliate website. Once you feel like you have mastered the affiliate program, you can think about starting a new home business and start building your own website. You won't be under any pressure to hurry and learn how to do this since you have another website generating income for you.

The bottom line is that this is a great way to get started with a home business. I have found out that there is a lot to learn and it is an ongoing process. I am starting to build my own website in addition to my affiliate websites. You can keep building your home business by adding new affiliate programs and/or new websites. The possibilities are endless and it's a good idea to have multiple streams of income since some may do better than others.

So get out there and go for it! Don't be afraid! Visit http://www.bigbuckscentral.com today if you want to get started with a great affiliate program.

Balance In Your Life

When I first started my at home business, I was very excited. I was reading a lot, watching training videos, listening to teleseminars and basically trying to absorb everything I could. It is great to have enthusiasm about your home business or anything you do for that matter.

However, I always have a tendency to go a little overboard with anything new. I have been a runner off and on my whole life. After a few years of not running, I decided to run again. Of course, I went overboard and ended up injured and not able to run for a few months. I was so mad at myself. I used to think more was always better if you wanted to improve or learn something. Now that I am older and wiser and have learned from my mistakes, I realize that is so not true.

Everything you do in your life complements one another. You need to have time for your family, yourself, your work, your hobbies and whatever else you want to do. When you have a lopsided lifestyle such as working way too many hours (I’ve also done this and paid the price.) your other areas of life suffer. Finding balance takes time and is different for each person.

Once you find this balance you realize when take a break from one thing and come back to it after doing something else, your mind will be refreshed and you will feel much better. I have found this with my home business. As much as I want to spend hours and hours working on it, I realize I need to take a break and do other things. So keep up your enthusiasm for all things in your life and try to spread the enthusiasm equally amongst everything you do.

Here’s to finding the perfect balance in your life.

Two Month Anniversary

Time has a way of playing tricks with your mind sometimes. It has been two months since I started my own home business. In some ways, it seems like I have been doing this far longer than two months and in other ways I feel like I just started.

In learning my home business, there are some areas I feel like I have made huge accomplishments with and feel very satisfied with my progress so far. As with anything new, there are other areas that are harder for me and these things will take a little more time. These are the things I am going to have to focus more time and energy on to continue the progress with my at home business.

The great thing is I have such a huge support system. I have the coaches from the initial program I signed up with and numerous “bonuses” the program has provided to help me continue my progress. The other great source is the Protégé program I belong to. This is such an unbelievable source. There is a forum where you can ask specific questions, numerous phone calls throughout the week you can participate in and one on one coaching.

Sometimes I feel overwhelmed with how much I still have to learn but then look back and realize how much I have learned in just two months. It’s sometimes easy to become impatient with your progress but I think this is just a natural part of learning something new; especially when you are excited about it.

My advice to anyone thinking about starting your own home business is to take your time, plan out your day and always look back and realize you know more than you did the week before or even the day before. The idea is to learn by accretion and know that you are building a solid foundation of knowledge that will last a life time and you can apply to any type of business you decide to pursue.

In It For The Long Haul

When I first wanted to start an at home business, I knew any program that promised me overnight success or a zillion dollars within the first week was probably a scam. As much as I knew that, I don’t think I really had any idea how short or long it took to see a return on your investment.

Working from home can be a very satisfying experience. There are so many benefits:

1. Working as little or as much as you want
2. Working when you feel like it
3. No one will be telling you what to do
4. Choosing exactly which field you want to work in
5. No commuting time involved
6. No office politics
7. You set your own deadlines and goals
8. Knowing this business is yours

These are just a few benefits that were important to me. Mostly #8, knowing this is my own business. There is just something so satisfying about being able to say “Yes, I have my own home business.” I wanted to start my own home business mainly to be financially independent and for the satisfaction of having my own business. In doing that, I knew that I would need to keep my regular job for quite some time. How long? That’s the big $64 question.

Being able to focus on my home business without having to worry about how much money I am bringing in is a huge relief. So having another source of income while you are setting up, learning and mastering your home business is a good idea. For me, it brings peace of mind knowing I can take my time in learning and applying what I have learned. I can even afford the luxury of learning from my mistakes.

Even if you decide to pursue something you are very knowledgeable about, try not to rely on your new business as your only source of income at first. It relieves the pressure of having to succeed right away and gives you the opportunity to focus 100% on setting up your new business. Once you start bringing in money and become comfortable with running your own home business, then maybe you can think about scaling back your regular income. In other words, don’t throw all your eggs in one basket. It may be better to have several “baskets” all bringing in something so you don’t have to rely on any one “basket” at a given time.

Home Business Mentoring

One of the things I have realized in setting up my home business is there are a lot of skills to learn and master. The training is great and gives you very detailed information on each step. There are also check lists to follow to keep you on track and continue learning the steps in an appropriate order.

After about a month into my program I was referred to another company who mentors people in becoming successful in running their own home businesses. Even though I was fairly new, I realized what a powerful tool this could be. Who wouldn’t want to learn from the best! I was so excited and eager to start this program.

It is a wonderful privilege to have mentors throughout your life. They can give you so much insight, teach you so much from their vast pool of knowledge and keep you from making costly mistakes they may have already made. Running a home business was completely new to me and excited as I was, I realized I could accelerate my success by learning from someone who has been extremely successful in this field for many, many years.

For anything you pursue in life, I highly recommend finding a mentor who can advise you along the way. Who knows, after I have made my first million in my home business, it would be wonderful to pay it forward and become a mentor myself!

Persistence

One of the things I am learning about starting my own home business is persistence. As with anything you do, it doesn't happen overnight. You have probably seen those ads where you can make thousands of dollars per day, etc. Well, I'm sorry to say, those are the ones you should probably stay away from.

With the program I am in, they are teaching you skills that will help you with any business. Also, they are giving you the opportunity to earn while you learn. As I look back to a prior week or the prior month, I realize how far I have come. Again, it doesn't happen overnight. It happens by accretion. Little by little, one task at a time, I am building a foundation of skills to apply to my work at home business. What you do each day may not seem like much but when you add all the days together and what you have accomplished in total, you realize you are making progress.

The thing to remember is the persistence part. Apply yourself each day and continue to move forward and soon you will see progress. Currently my plan is to continue with this work at home business until I feel I have a very strong foundation of skills. This may take some time and depending on each person and how much time they may have, it could take months or even a year. That's OK. The point is to keep moving along because you are doing something for yourself that is very valuable.

In the short amount of time I have been working on my home business, I feel more confident about myself. I feel good that I am learning a new skill. You can teach an old dog new tricks.

One Month Anniversary

One month has passed since I started my new home business. What a busy month. It's amazing how the time flies whenever I am working on my business. There is so much to learn, read and apply but each day does get a little easier. I have learned to place ads and have placed many, many ads over the last month. Placing ads is actually very enjoyable. It's challenging to try and find ways to attract attention to your ads. You really start noticing all different types of advertising medium around you and it really makes you think what ideas would be good for you and your advertising.

I have also learned how to set up links and banners on my websites which I find pretty exciting. You see links and banners all the time online but I guess I really never thought about how they actually work. Now I know and can set them up myself! (It's the little things in life that excite me.)

As I mentioned before, there is such a wealth of information. It just never ends. I honestly wish there were more hours in the day to study and absorb all this information. I'm still watching all the teleseminars from the archives. I have a few more to go and am so grateful these are available. There is so much information in each one and I plan to go back and listen to them all again. You just can't absorb everything in one sitting. There are still some new challenges ahead and I am looking forward to learning about landing pages and list building.
